I've read that permethrin can be toxic to humans while wet if inhaled and not good to get on bare skin (so exercise caution while spraying / during its drying period). I prefer to buy some pre-treated permethrin clothes (socks, bandanas, gaiters and a blanket I put on my dog's bed during tick seasons). I've purchased from insect shield and other companies and this really helps keep the tick count down after being outside.
