I’d love more sources for whips. I started a hedge row in Maine this summer, I ended up using mostly Etsy nurseries for the seedlings, I found a few really excellent ones. Fox River Nursery was the best one for north eastern natives that I found. It’s hard coordinating the plants arriving when I will be there 😬.
I stopped buying from arbor day in 2020. They often mislabel their whips. They shipped them in plastic instead of cardboard and they were all moldy when they got here. Have they improved?
That’s terrible, Kendra! Thank you for letting us know. I was highlighting that they carry bundles of barefoot saplings but have not ordered from them.
Great advice. Last year I started Pacific Northwest native seeds in milk jugs and left them outside all winter. The growth rate was excellent but removing the seeds from the milk jugs was difficult. I am going to try the method you have recommended It seems much easier.
